Another thing that I find fascinating about these insects is their meaning.
In Japanese culture, the dragonfly or Tombo is a recurring image in iconography and is also closely related to samurai values.
Dragonflies were called kachimushi
(victorious insects) because they only fly forward, and this gave them the character of someone who never retreats and always moves forward, whatever the circumstances. Thus they became a symbol of strength, courage and determination. And therefore, good luck.
